I bought a new aquarium?

I recently bought the Tetra 10 Starter Aquarium kit fish tank that was $70. I want to know how many gallons it is. I looked everywhere on the box and it didn't say. It only says its dimensions which are: 20" x 10" x 12". Does anyone know how many gallons that is? The kit came with a power filter, filter cartridge, bulbs, water conditioner, and food. It also came with a time strip that said when it turns red to change the filter. Do I need to buy anything else for my aquarium? Like a thermometer or something? How often do I need to use the water conditioner? I already bought $90 worth of decorations including gravel rocks. I already have 3 goldfish in it. And I was thinking of buying more goldfish, what do you think the maximum amount of fish should be for my tank? Sorry for all the questions.

Well, at petsmart we sell a tetra 10 starter kit for both golfish and tropicals, the tropical one is about the price you say you paid. It should be a ten gallon aquarium.
You should definitlly get a thermometer, you'll need to keep an eye on the waters temp, it's not as important for goldfish as it is for tropicals, but it's still helpful. You can get a little sticker one for the outside for a few bucks.
Water conditioner needs to be used everytime you add or change water to the tank, the new water needs to be conditioned BEFORE it is put in the tank with the fish. Not only do you risk the fishes life, but also any beneficial bacteria you have managed to cultivate.
3 goldfish in a new, uncycled tank is asking for trouble BTW, I suspect you'll be experienceing water quality issues shortlly. : ( Goldfish are extremlly messy, producing a very high amount of ammonia, and a new tank with no bacterial colony will have an inevitable ammonia spike. You'll have to perform frequent water changes and change the filter more often than you would with tropicals. Even in a fuly cycled ten gallon, you'd expect problems in the future. Once again, due to the goldfishes waste production. As babies, when very small, you may skate by for a while, but as they mature and grow, they'll start to produce more ammonia than such a small tank and filter can handle. I'd suggest beggining a hunt for a future home now (a friends pond perhaps? never release captive fish into natural bodies of water though, it's illegal) or considering returning them and getting set up with a few tropicals instead. Definitlly easir in the long run and better for you and the fish.
I'm not sure if your's came with a heater or not, with goldfish it's actually better NOT to heat their water as it tends to make them sick over time with stomach troubles. If you do have one, I suggest removing it while you have the goldfish. If you don't have one, and do decide to re-house or return the goldies (your best course of action!), you can look into differnt types of minnow should you not wish to purchase a heater. White cloud mountain minnows are fairly inexpensive, stay small, are far cleaner and prefer cooler waters.
Should you choose to purchase or already have a heater your amount of fish you can safelly house will open up dramatically. The effort you have to put forward to maintain the tank will also drop drastically. Small bodied, slim fish simply produce less waste, allowing you to safelly house more without having to perform water changes on a nearly daily basis!
